I had the pleasure of hearing Adam Urbanski speak last week. It was amazing and I want to piggy back off of something he shared that really stood out to me.
I’m sure you have all heard that you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with, right? That’s not new information. BUT, what Adam was saying is that even though people understand this “intellectually” they don’t really make the changes in terms of who they are hanging around with which really impacts their success.
He invited us to look into our phone, in the “favorites” section. Who do you call the most? Who is on speed dial? Who do you call for advice?
Are they where you want to be? OR Are they committed in their own life to moving toward their dream?
If not, it may be time to re-consider who you are inviting to give you advice.
Now, I’m NOT saying you eliminate everyone from your life that isn’t moving forward, BUT be very careful about who you are modeling.
Do you even have someone in your life currently that can help you Shine? Or are you always the one that everyone else is looking to or relying on to help them feel better?
Here are a few tips:
- Do you have at least 3-5 people that you are really connected with that are where you want to be? If not, seek them out.
- If you are always the one that everyone else relies on, think about how that may be holding you back in your life or distracting you?
- Be intentional about who you share your dreams with. Hold them in a safe place and only share them with people that will help bring you towards them.
If you are feeling like you are not surrounded by like minded people that are helping you move forward to find a group or mentor to help support you that really cares about your success! (that’s the key!)
It will be a game-changer!
